Any man over a certain age would have fantasised about Princess Leia in her gold bikini at some stage during their adolesence.

And the look that struck a chord in every young boy’s heart after seeing Return of the Jedi appears to have been adopted by Kate Beckinsale for a new advertising campaign.

Looking like a cross between the Star Wars sex symbol and Jane Fonda’s Barbarella, the British actress strikes a sexy pose in a barely-there gold link two piece, complete with wrist cuffs and towering heels.

The photo is part of a advertising campaign for Absolut Vodka which launches four new drinks – Absolut Bloody, the Absolut Cosmo, the Absolut Crush and the Absolut Tonic Twist – at an exclusive party in New York tonight.

The bikini shot will be used to promote Absolute Crush which is made using Absolut Mandarin, fresh orange juice and Triple Sec.

Photographed by  renowned fashion photographer Ellen Von Unwerth, Kate, 36, also posed for two other stunning pictures for the Swedish drinks firm’s campaign.

A vision in red and looking every bit the alluring vamp, she looks seductively through a broken mirror wearing a long red dress and holding a candelabra for Absolut Bloody, a modern twist on the classic Bloody Mary drink.

In another for the Absolut Tonic Twist – which is basically a vodka and tonic – she hides her brunette locks under a curly blonde wig and strikes a fun pose in green leggings and green bandeau top.

The ‘Drinks’ campaign, which runs with the tagline, ‘Every drink is an exceptional experience’, extending a recent campaign with the theme ‘Doing things differently leads to something exceptional’, also features American actress Zooey Deschanel.

In her advert for Absolut Cosmo, made with Absolut Citron, cranberry juice and Triple Sec, the 29-year-old looks every inch the space-age chick in a long blonde wig, chain mail-esque skirt and knee-high white boots.

The ads are set to run in male-oriented magazines like Maxim, GQ, Details, Esquire and Sports Illustrated.
